Organized Baking Cabinet

This post is brought to you by Command™ Brand. As always, opinions are 100% my own.

One of the reasons why we bought this house was the size of the kitchen. There is so much space and storage. I was sold because I love to bake and cook. And then when we had the cabinets refaced and extended to the ceiling, we gained even more storage space. This means that I can have a cabinet dedicated to the baking supplies I use most often.

A few weeks ago, I decided to organize my main baking cabinet which houses my measuring cups, measuring spoons, mixing bowls, KitchenAid mixer attachments, and other baking-related items.

Here’s what I was working with before. It was okay, but I wasn’t taking full advantage of the vertical space in the cabinet.

kitchen cabinet before

I initially set up the cabinet like in the photo below, with the measuring cups, spoons, and one of my KitchenAid mixer paddles on the doors. But every time I opened a door, the cups or spoons would clank against the door and scare the crap out of me, causing a curse word or two to flow out of my mouth.

So I made the executive decision to change the set up. And it was super easy because the Command™ Brand products I used are easy to remove and reapply.

Organized baking cabinet! Great ideas to maximize cabinet space!

If you’d like to recreate this in your home, follow the easy steps below.

Grab your baking essentials such as measuring spoons, cups, lightweight mixers and whisks, as well as your Command™ Brand products. Determine which cabinet you want to create your organized baker set-up and follow all surface prep instructions on the back of the packaging.

Organized baking cabinet! Great ideas to maximize cabinet space!

Following package instructions, mount one Command™ Quartz Key Rail to the inside of the cabinet. Repeat to mount additional key rails in the cabinet.

I used three key rails across the top of the bottom section.

Organized baking cabinet! Great ideas to maximize cabinet space!

Following package instructions, apply one Command™ Medium Clear Hook to the inside of the cabinet. Repeat to apply additional clear hooks on the sides of the cabinet. I used one on each side– two on the bottom and two on the top.

Organized baking cabinet! Great ideas to maximize cabinet space!

Hang sets of measuring spoons and cups on the key rails, and use the clear hooks to hold plastic mixers, tools, whisks and more.

Organized baking cabinet! Great ideas to maximize cabinet space!

In order to get the measuring cups to fit nicely, I cupped the 1/2 cups and 1/3 cups together.

Organized baking cabinet! Great ideas to maximize cabinet space!

Don’t ask why I need four sets of measuring spoons. I just do.

Organized baking cabinet! Great ideas to maximize cabinet space!

My magnetic measuring spoons that I use to fit into small openings can’t be hung so I set them on the cabinet shelf.

Organized baking cabinet! Great ideas to maximize cabinet space!

Organizing this cabinet and putting up all the Command™ Brand products took less than 30 minutes so this is a very doable project for anyone.

Love the idea for the measuring spoons but overall I feel that the items on the top shelf are not very easily accessible without a stool & instead of using valuable cabinet space for my kitchenaid bowls, I actually store them in the bowl holder of the mixer – would give a lot more room in cabinet for other baking needs – like more bowls – overall it is nice and clean looking
    Thank You

They’re easily accessible for my husband and me because we’re 5’10” and 6′ tall. I have two KitchenAid mixing bowls, one is with the mixer and the other one is in the cabinet as shown in the photo. I have two sets of mixing bowls in the cabinet The red bowl has 5 bowls inside of it and the green bowl has two bowls inside of it. Nesting bowls are key! 🙂

What a great idea! My handsome hubby and I bought a house a couple of months ago, mostly because it has my dream kitchen. All stainless steel appliances, an over/under double convection oven, a mind-blowing amount of cabinet space, granite counter tops, and a 3-bottom sink are just some of the greatness involved in this kitchen. (Yes, you read that right – a 3-bottom sink in a home kitchen. *Swoon*) I’m still figuring out exactly the best way to organize everything, but you’ve given me inspiration. Thanks!

Chelsea, I understand completely why you have four sets of measuring spoons (and/or cups). Though I “make do” with just three sets of each! 😀 I have Command hooks in my bedroom closet and love them. When I put them up, I remember thinking “They’re probably going to fall off the first time I use them.” They did not! I love that when you got your cabinets refaced you extended them to the ceiling. I have no idea why anyone would NOT want to have them all the way to the ceiling.

I know why you have four sets of measuring spoons, as do I… Because some how they go to live with the pair of socks, sadly missing their other half…no longer a pair because the washing machine eats them… In my house I have duplicates because everything disappears… and lazy people unloading the dishwasher can’t be bothered to find where they live all happily nestled together on a handy dandy little ring… No they throw them in the drawer where things go to die…. Hence I have four, albeit mismatched measuring spoons sets and don’t even get me going on the measuring cups… Lol
