Organized Baking Cabinet

This post is brought to you by Command™ Brand. As always, opinions are 100% my own.

One of the reasons why we bought this house was the size of the kitchen. There is so much space and storage. I was sold because I love to bake and cook. And then when we had the cabinets refaced and extended to the ceiling, we gained even more storage space. This means that I can have a cabinet dedicated to the baking supplies I use most often.

A few weeks ago, I decided to organize my main baking cabinet which houses my measuring cups, measuring spoons, mixing bowls, KitchenAid mixer attachments, and other baking-related items.

Here’s what I was working with before. It was okay, but I wasn’t taking full advantage of the vertical space in the cabinet.

I initially set up the cabinet like in the photo below, with the measuring cups, spoons, and one of my KitchenAid mixer paddles on the doors. But every time I opened a door, the cups or spoons would clank against the door and scare the crap out of me, causing a curse word or two to flow out of my mouth.

So I made the executive decision to change the set up. And it was super easy because the Command™ Brand products I used are easy to remove and reapply.

If you’d like to recreate this in your home, follow the easy steps below.

Grab your baking essentials such as measuring spoons, cups, lightweight mixers and whisks, as well as your Command™ Brand products. Determine which cabinet you want to create your organized baker set-up and follow all surface prep instructions on the back of the packaging.

Following package instructions, mount one Command™ Quartz Key Rail to the inside of the cabinet. Repeat to mount additional key rails in the cabinet.

I used three key rails across the top of the bottom section.

Following package instructions, apply one Command™ Medium Clear Hook to the inside of the cabinet. Repeat to apply additional clear hooks on the sides of the cabinet. I used one on each side– two on the bottom and two on the top.

Hang sets of measuring spoons and cups on the key rails, and use the clear hooks to hold plastic mixers, tools, whisks and more.

In order to get the measuring cups to fit nicely, I cupped the 1/2 cups and 1/3 cups together.

Don’t ask why I need four sets of measuring spoons. I just do.

My magnetic measuring spoons that I use to fit into small openings can’t be hung so I set them on the cabinet shelf.

Organizing this cabinet and putting up all the Command™ Brand products took less than 30 minutes so this is a very doable project for anyone.

  11. I desperately need to find a storage solution for my measuring cups and spoons. They are all over the place.

  12. That’s it! I’ve decided that you need to come live with me. I can’t even…one day. For now, I think i’ll just admire your kitchen.

  13. I love command products because I’m constantly changing things up around the house so it’s a lot easier taking a strip off the wall rather than filling in a hole and painting over it. I love how cute and pretty is looks, great job as always!

  14. Oh I envy your cabinet space. It looks great!! I have a few cabinets I need to organize myself.

  15. I use the command picture hanging strips all the time. They’re awesome! What brand are your mixing bowls? They look like they have non slip bottoms AND pour spouts?? I need those!

  16. Love the idea for the measuring spoons but overall I feel that the items on the top shelf are not very easily accessible without a stool & instead of using valuable cabinet space for my kitchenaid bowls, I actually store them in the bowl holder of the mixer – would give a lot more room in cabinet for other baking needs – like more bowls – overall it is nice and clean looking
    Thank You

    1. They’re easily accessible for my husband and me because we’re 5’10” and 6′ tall. I have two KitchenAid mixing bowls, one is with the mixer and the other one is in the cabinet as shown in the photo. I have two sets of mixing bowls in the cabinet The red bowl has 5 bowls inside of it and the green bowl has two bowls inside of it. Nesting bowls are key! 🙂

  17. Oh, my! I love an awesome organized cabinet! Thank you so much for showing how you’ve improved your organization after it wasn’t working for you! I absolutely think the hooks on the side of the cabinets is genius!

  18. This is fantastic! I would be beyond mortified to show you what my baking “cabinet” looks like right now. It’s pretty bad! I love how there is a place for everything, and it doesn’t feel overwhelming. I definitely need to work on mine 🙂

  19. Where are your aqua measuring cups from???

  20. What a great idea! My handsome hubby and I bought a house a couple of months ago, mostly because it has my dream kitchen. All stainless steel appliances, an over/under double convection oven, a mind-blowing amount of cabinet space, granite counter tops, and a 3-bottom sink are just some of the greatness involved in this kitchen. (Yes, you read that right – a 3-bottom sink in a home kitchen. *Swoon*) I’m still figuring out exactly the best way to organize everything, but you’ve given me inspiration. Thanks!

  21. Ha ha ha! My measuring cups are on the cabinet door with command hooks and they used to scare the crap out if me too. I have had them that way for a couple of years so they don’t bother me anymore. I love those key rails. I will have to look for them next time I am shopping.

    1. *out OF me, not if. It is late and time for bed clearly!

  22. OMG! This is brilliant. Thanks so much. I am in the process of re-vamping my pantry and some of my cupboards and I love the idea of hanging the spoons and cups.

  23. I love how you were able to free up so much cabinet space by hanging things on the inside cabinet walls. So clever! Thanks for sharing 🙂

  24. So clever! I’ve always stored my kitchen Aid attachments inside the bowl, which is a pain when it comes time to bake.

  25. What a great cabinet makeover! I love the white hook strips in the back of the cabinet. Thanks for linking up to Merry Monday! Sharing on Fb & pinned! Have a great week!

  26. This turned out great! I need to get some of those key hooks. Definitely handy. And you can never have enough measuring cups or spoons. 🙂

  27. See, now I will actually back. I have all the stuff but rarely bake because stuff is not organized. I never would have of hanging the mixer hook. I am so doing this. Fabulous job! I would love for you to share this at our What’s it Wednesday Linky Party! Fantastic way to start the year with inspiration.

  28. This looks amazing! One more reason to love command hooks! I’m always digging around in all my baking supplies, but never thought to organize them like this. Thanks for the inspiration! Pinning…

This is a great system. 3M usually has coupons on the Command website too.

  30. Chelsea, I understand completely why you have four sets of measuring spoons (and/or cups). Though I “make do” with just three sets of each! 😀 I have Command hooks in my bedroom closet and love them. When I put them up, I remember thinking “They’re probably going to fall off the first time I use them.” They did not! I love that when you got your cabinets refaced you extended them to the ceiling. I have no idea why anyone would NOT want to have them all the way to the ceiling.

  31. But I like rummaging through my cupboards and draws to find what I need every time I bake… said no one ever!

Love this. Thanks for sharing on the #HomeMattersParty . I hope you will join us again next week.

  32. Thanks for this post- great ideas (that I would not have thought of)! I also have four sets of measuring spoons! Love the baking cabinet and thanks again-

  33. This is such a GREAT visual. I’m moving into a new house in exactly two weeks, and I had to pin this idea because my cabinet skills are a disaster, and I absolutely want to copy this!

  34. I love this, and I need to do something like this with my own cabinets! Thanks for sharing at Merry Monday. 🙂

  35. Wonderful tips thank you! Now, if only I could find a solution for all of my cake pans rather than get rid of half of them!

  36. I’ve thought of hanging baking stuff on my cabinet doors, but I never thought about the noise it would make every time you open the door. Thanks for the warning on that. Your cupboards turned out great. Nice way to use the vertical space.

  37. This is a great idea! Thanks for sharing. Stopping by from Freedom Fridays Link Party.

  38. I love what you have done with the cabinet. I would hate to share pictures of my baking cabinet right now…it is special. Hopefully, I will be able to use some of these ideas to make my cabinet more organized. Thanks for sharing!

  39. I love how you organized the cabinet. My baking stuff is all over the place, and it pretty hard to keep straight.

  40. I love organized kitchens. 🙂 There are some really clever ideas in this post, thanks for sharing!

Where do you store your whisk attachment for your mixer?

      1. My biggest problem is the baking sheets, the cutting boards, etc., how to organize those. Oh and the small appliances. Right now, it’s all over the stand alone bar and you can imagine what it looks like! But after this weekend, it will look 100% percent better. Haven’t exactly figured out how yet but I will get ‘er done! Enjoy your blog so much!

  42. Jess Gregg says:

I know why you have four sets of measuring spoons, as do I… Because some how they go to live with the pair of socks, sadly missing their other half…no longer a pair because the washing machine eats them… In my house I have duplicates because everything disappears… and lazy people unloading the dishwasher can’t be bothered to find where they live all happily nestled together on a handy dandy little ring… No they throw them in the drawer where things go to die…. Hence I have four, albeit mismatched measuring spoons sets and don’t even get me going on the measuring cups… Lol

  43. Genius! I’m doing this immediately!

I went from a large kitchen to a small one. Use of the command hooks to hang up some of my baking stuff will help with the cabinet clutter. Had to get rid of alot of stuff, but never my KitchenAid! Thank you for the great tips.
