Guest Bedroom Makeover Part One + Giveaway

You know how they call preparing your home for a baby nesting? Well, I wouldn’t call what I’m feeling nesting. I’d phrase it as holy moly we’re having a baby– we need to get stuff done. One of the things on our to-do list is the guest bedroom. Since Brad is losing his man cave, some of his things will need to be moved into the guest bedroom– mainly his guitars and amp. But still we need to make space.

I’ve been meaning to tackle the guest bedroom for a while now, and thankfully Sherwin-Williams (and the impending birth of the nugget) have given me the push I need to get this room done. It’s not like the room looks bad right now, it just hasn’t received the love it deserves. You know how guest bedrooms can become kind of a mix of random things thrown together? That’s our guest bedroom.

Sherwin-Williams has partnered with me to refresh our guest bedroom. They have a bunch of awesome color selection tools to use. I decided to go with ColorSnap®, which is a free smartphone app.

You can color match a photo, either taken with your smartphone camera or a photo from your photo gallery.

You also have the option to explore colors by choosing colors for a custom palette, no photo needed.

My inspiration for the guest bedroom is this photo of pillows by Caitlin Wilson. I love the mix of gray, coral, navy, and mint.

I saved the photo to my phone and opened it in ColorSnap®.

Then, by using my finger I selected a color palette from the photo. You have the option to change the color details (lightness, saturation, hue) of each color.

When I finished I saved the color palette to my phone and also had the app email me the color palette.

I’m excited to get this project started so I can check one more thing off my holy moly we’re having a baby– we need to get stuff done list.
