Home Office Update

Almost a year ago, I finished my home office/woman cave.  Can you believe it’s almost been a whole year?  Yeah, me neither.

Well, this past year I’ve been searching for a chair for my home office.  About a month ago I spotted one at Home Goods.  I walked in the door and there it was staring back at me.  I immediately walked over and sat on it as if I were playing musical chairs and it was the last chair there.  It was all mine.

Why did it take me so long to buy a chair?  Well, since chairs typically aren’t inexpensive I didn’t want to buy one I didn’t love.  So I kept my eyes peeled whenever I went into a store that sold chairs.  I even scoured Craigslist (like I often do– see here and here) from time to time for a chair to makeover.

This one is almost perfect.  The only thing I would change is the color of the legs, but I can live with them.  I love the size, shape, color, fabric, nailhead trim, tufting, and ample padding.  The price was also nice– $99.99.  BUT I had a gift card from Christmas so I basically got the chair for free.

I keep this cable knit throw (a Home Goods clearance section find) on the back of the chair because my office gets quite chilly.  Also, I have a mild obsession with cable knit.

In case you’re wondering, the chair is by Cynthia Rowley.  Just thought I’d throw that out there.

It took me over a year to find a comfy chair for my reading nook, and when I finally found a quality one at Homegoods I was so afraid someone would take it in the time it took me to grab a salesperson! Of course on my next visit there I saw a pink wingback recliner that would have been even more perfect(!), but I had to sadly let it go. Sometimes when it rains, it pours.

This looks so beautiful. I have the same 5 cube by 5 cube Expedit bookcase in my office and I’m contemplating adding the desk section. I have the same iMac you have and was wondering, what do you do with the cords since the desk is floating in the middle of the room? If I add the Expedit desk to my bookcase, mine will be laid out similar to yours. This is currently holding me back from deciding on what to do about my desk situation.

I just bought 2 of these from Marshalls! I am searching online to find 2 more for my kitchen. I love them!! My longest wait for a piece of furniture was my office desk. I waited around 2 years. I finally found it at Home Goods. It is Lauren by Ralph Lauren and was priced at $300 which I just couldn’t bring myself to buy. But I waited another month went back into the store and it was on sale for $200. I bought it right then!!! A year later it is still my favorite desk!! It also gave me a reason to invite a cute boy from work over to my house. I told him I needed help moving it. Thursday will be our 1 year annv :)

    Love the office btw!
