Halloween Vignette {Halloween Decorating}

With Halloween right around the corner I got busy setting up my Halloween vignette this past weekend. I’m not big on gory Halloween decor. I like pretty, glittery, and feathery Halloween decor. Dramatic, not disgusting. This vignette is very Cher/Bob Mackie-esque if you ask me. Glitz and feathers. Ha-cha-cha!

If you’ve been around a while, you know that I did a purple and black themed Halloween vignette last year. Well, I don’t know about you, but I don’t have the dough to change my holiday decor every year. So this year I stuck with the purple and black theme, but added some different items to jazz it up a bit.

Many of the items I added this year are from the Target dollar spot. Love me some Target dollar spot. The bats, tall pumpkin, and owl were all dollar spot scores.
I created the feather-ific lamp shade by wrapping two black boas around a lampshade I already had. Isn’t it bangin’? Brad even likes it. Winning.

I’ve had the black spiders for a few years now. The battery-operated tea lights are new. They were originally orange, but I fixed that with a little acrylic paint.

I made the glittery BOO sign, and later this week I’ll show you how I made it. Get. Excited.

When I spotted the bats at Target I knew had to get them and somehow use them in the vignette. I orginally planned on hanging them from the ceiling with fishing line, but I decided that I didn’t want to have to deal with rigging them I’d hang them on the mirror with zip ties instead.

You want to see what it looks like at night with the black light glowing, don’t you?

Super spooky, right?

Here’s the rundown of where I got everything in the vignette.

lamp: Bed Bath & Beyond
lampshade: Kohls
feather boas for lampshade: JoAnn Fabric ($8*)

black light: Walmart
purple boa: Hobby Lobby
owl: Target ($2.50)
spiders: Kohls?
tealights: JoAnn Fabric ($4*)
BOO sign: handmade ($14.50*)
pedestal stand: Goodwill
short purple pumpkin: Hobby Lobby
tall purple pumpkin: Target ($2.50)
bats: Target ($3)
* I used coupons

Are you decorating for Halloween this year?
Do you go with a theme of sorts?
What are your thoughts on the Target dollar spot?

I’m sharing this at the following parties: Home Stories A to Z, Tatertots and Jello, House of Hepworths, The Shabby Creek Cottage, Tidy Mom, Liz Marie Blog, Craftomaniac, The Shabby Nest, Positively Splendid, Whipperberry, Funky Junk Interiors, Classy Clutter, Today’s Creative Blog, Uncommon Designs Live Laugh Rowe, Thrifty Decor Chick, and Serenity Now.

    I used the Target Dollar spot to decorate my fall mantle. The Dollar Spot at Target and the Dollar Tree are my go-to places for holiday decor. You can check out my mantle here:

    I can’t believe you used the same items as last year. Tacky….

    I wanted to just leave that but then people would think I was some internet troll. Sad, this world that we live in. I really like the purple vs. orange for Halloween. You could make this big.

    That is so cute! I love your BOO letters…I just made some the other day too. But, I love how sparkly yours are, and that lamp shade rocks! The target dollar spot is addicting to me. I feel like stores in my area all have a lot of different items too. 🙂 I love your owl too. Megan

    The purple and black is super snazzy! I love the change of pace from all the orange. And I wasn’t around last year, so it counts as being brand new to me!

    I really dig the purple and black instead of the typical orange. Pretty!

    I love the feather boa lamp! I really don’t decorate for holidays/season (except a little for Christmas, of course) but I wish I did sometimes when I see decorations like this! It looks wonderful! 🙂

    Super cute! I got a few cute signs from Target’s dollar spot a week or so ago but I’ve yet to hang them anywhere. I’m super slacking on my Halloween decor this year haha

    Ha! I bought those bats too. But just two of them. I’m trying to find something green to add to my mantle before I can have the grand reveal.

    The black and purple together look awesome! My favorite are the black glitter letters, who doesn’t love glitter. If you get a chance I would love for you to come link up at my Hallween Edition Pin Party. It’s open all month.
