Master Bedroom Curtain Options

Let’s talk master bedroom curtain options today. I feel like that’s next big decision I need to make after painting the room.

I took the liberty of Photoshopping six different options into a photo of our master bedroom. It’s kind of crazy how curtains can completely change the look and feel of a room, as you’ll see with the six photos below.

Option 1 | ivory ruffled
These curtains create more of a monochromatic look, but the ruffles provide nice texture. And the ivory color would go with our headboard and white bedding. These curtains would give the room a serene, relaxing feel.

Option 2 | green paisley
I was curious to see how a green printed curtain would look in the room because the Sea Salt wall color looks more blue than green in our bedroom. I’m kind of indifferent– I like them but I don’t know if I love them.

Option 3 | pink floral
When I spotted these curtains I thought, “Ooh, that’d be a fun pop of color!” The question is, will my husband let me put pink floral curtains in our master bedroom? I already asked him this, and I believe his response was, “You’re going to do whatever you want anyway.” He’s come to learn me so well after our 10 years together.

Option 4 | teal floral
This is the same pattern as the pink floral curtains. I like this look because all the blue in the room is cool and calming, but the pattern kicks it up a notch. Maybe Brad would be more okay with these because they’re blue floral…?

Option 5 | blue patterned
After seeing the teal floral patterned curtains in the room, I decided to find and try out a bolder, darker blue. I like how these curtains look with our dark wood dresser.

Option 6 | yellow fretwork
A lot of readers suggested yellow accents, so I found these curtains and plugged them into the room. While I like them, I’m not so sure how they’ll look with our dark wood furniture though.

  1. I like the “spa-like” feel the ivory curtains bring. If I’m going to do a pop of color in a room, it’s in the pillowcases, a throw blanket, or a rug (i.e. things that I can easily change). But that’s just me 🙂

  2. I really like the blue in there it keeps it calm and serene:-)

  3. The blue floral or blue pattern is my vote! They look great with the other colors of the room, isn’t too girly for your hubs, and still keep the room with the calm-feeling!

  4. Classic blue & white bedroom…beautiful!!!

  5. I love the cobalt print curtains. And FYI, just saw at Target they have some gorgeous cobalt and white new bath items… If you are looking to update a bathroom. I know I will be very soon.

  6. I think the Blue patterned curtains are your best option! Blue is a calming color and the curtains play very nicely off the wall color and colors in your furniture.

The blue pattern is such a classic timeless look. Loving that. On a side note, is this software you use to display this drapes and if so would you mind sharing the name. I cannot for the life of me picture something in my head when planning my decor. I am hugely visual and need to see it right in front of me.

    Thanks as always for sharing!

I’ve used Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, but Olioboard (http://www.olioboard.com/) is a good option because it will crop the images for you as you pull them from different websites. I love being able to make mood and inspiration boards that way.

Lindsey thank you very much for taking the time to get back to me. Greatly appreciated. I will be sure to check it out!

  8. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the blue patterned curtains…but then I’m a lover of blues and whites!!! Second choice would be the green or teal. Love the pops of color.

  9. I actually really like the green paisley. Where are they from? The yellow is nice too. Those might look good with my current bedding.

  10. The blue floral look very similar to the ones I will be putting in our main area later this spring.

Love your bedroom it is beautiful.

  11. That pink floral is so pretty to me. It goes beautifully with the wall color and the dark wood, but it’s a pop of something fun and bright without being completely over the top. Apparently I’m on the minority here…but the blue & green color combo is just getting a little tired to me. I thought the pink was orange at first, which might be a good compromise if Brax isn’t all about the pink (provided they make a similar pattern in an orange)

  12. I vote the blue curtains. Where are they from or where is the fabric from?

    Thank you,

    Tipling

  13. Does your duvet come down far enough on both sides of the bed? We have that same one but in the comforter version. It seems short on each side of the bed. Wondering if the duvet would be a better/longer choice? Ours barely touches the top of the bed frame. PS….I like blue patterned curtains. 😉

    1. Hi, Pam! I’d say that our down comforter and duvet cover come down a foot on each side of our king size bed. We have a 14.5″ thick mattress (and 4.5″ low profile box spring) so we would need a really big comforter for it to be able to touch our bed frame.
