Entryway Christmas Decor

Moving along with the Christmas home tour, we’re in my entryway today. Like the centerpiece from yesterday, this area isn’t much different from last year either. But if you weren’t around these parts last year you wouldn’t know that. And I highly doubt that those of you who were around last year remember how I decorated my entryway. Mad props if you do remember.

For the past couple years, I’ve put the ceramic Christmas tree on our entryway table. It’s white and blue so the decor revolves around it. Like last year, I went with a white, silver, and blue theme. A sparkly silver placement (Kohls, circa a few years ago) sits under a silver heart shaped bowl (Target, circa more than a few years ago). The heart shaped bowl is filled with miniature silver and blue ornaments and three candles. I slapped some blue ornaments (Walmart, circa a few years ago) in the pedastal container, and I hung silver and clear snowflake ornaments on the mirror. This entire vignette took me about 5-10 minutes to set up. Probably because it’s the fraternal twin of last year’s vignette.

I love the crap out of this tree. My late Aunt Patricia  made a tree for both my brother and I when we were little. My mom used to put them in our bedrooms at Christmastime. It’s one of my most treasured possessions. I can’t wait to put it in our future kid’s room.

Opposite the entryway table is this little nook that houses our coat closet and some empty space. This is where I always put our sentimental Christmas tree. It’s a little 4 footer that I use to display all of our personal ornaments. I also hang a wreath on the closet door.

Brad’s grandparents made this beautiful wreath back in their craft business days. The wreath’s sibling is on our front door.

You’ll find ornaments dedicated to Jack, IU themed ornaments, ornaments we picked up while vacationing, “Brad and Chelsea” ornaments, and some other random ornaments on our sentimental tree.

My favorite ornament has to be this ‘just married’ ornament I ordered from Lenox last year. I still need to find a 2012 ornament. Note to self.

  1. oooh love the idea of a “sentimental tree” – could use that for the ornaments that don’t really go with the theme of the main tree – definitely doing that next year! and love your entray table/vignette – looks great but not overly done!

  2. Lovely!! I love that you have sentimental, meaningful touches. We decorate our entryway with a small tree used for advent ornaments that we add to each day in December as we do the devotional that goes with it. My kids love it and in the true spirit of Christmas, often fight over who gets to put the ornament on!

  3. Goodness, you sure were busy this holiday season!! Everything looks absolutely fabulous. And love that little tree. Would look great in a nursery… hint hint! C’mon, I wanna see a baby room makeover in 2013!

  4. We have one of those ceramic trees too! My mother made it when she was a young bride, and it still sits on our bar every Christmas. I loved putting the little light bulbs in it as a kid. I wish I could find somewhere that made them now so that I could make my own.

  5. I love your white ceramic tree! I have one in a similar style that my Grandma made (it’s green, and has multi-colored lights, and a few tiny ornaments that my Grandma added herself). I love the way you mix old and new pieces together.

  6. So pretty! All of it.

I’m honestly so smitten with that white ceramic tree. My grandma was a ceramics crafter and had one just like this at her house. I’m not sure what happened to it after she passed. I’ve been looking for one for years but haven’t come across one yet. Someday.

  8. I have a Charlie Brown tree that I hang small picture frames of my deceased parents and grandchildren baby pictures. It’s a table top tree.
