Two Twenty One Talk 001 : Introduction

I’ve been keeping a secret. For the past few weeks I’ve been working really hard on something new and totally different. To say that I’m nervous is an understatement, but I think it’s good to step outside of your comfort zone and try new things.

I’m starting a podcast.

I know, it seems super trendy but trust me when I say that it’s no walk in the park to get one of these things up and running. I’ve had to learn how to work multiple software programs and websites, buy equipment and spend hours watching YouTube videos on how to start and launch a podcast.

I’m really excited about this new adventure. I hope you’ll love it!

TTOT 001

I don’t have the iTunes feature set up yet but I’m working on it. So stay tuned!

My very first guest next week will be Liz Marie from Liz Marie Blog.

Listen to my very first podcast by pushing ‘play’ below!

I’ve had some issues with the player loading on mobile devices. If you’re having issues, try selecting the ‘open in new window’ option.

And shout out to Kristin from This Inspired Life for answering my endless questions, and Erin for designing the TTOT graphics!

  1. How fun! You are a GREAT person to start a podcast because of your great personality! And… I can say this, because I had a professor once tell me I had a good voice during a class presentation…. you have a great voice for a podcast!! Good luck – and I look forward to episode 2!

  2. How exciting! I agree, you have a great voice for podcasting and think this is an awesome way to learn more about bloggers that we love. I’ve been following Liz Marie for awhile and look forward to learning more about her next week. Good Luck!

    1. Thanks so much! I hope you guys will enjoy it. I’m not going to promise Pulitzer Prize winning stuff, but hopefully it’ll be fun.

  3. Yay!! I’ve followed your blog for a while and had actually felt like for the past year or so the content wasn’t quite as interesting as it once had been so I’m super excited to see that you’re mixing it up a bit. My most favorite blogger of all time is Jenna Sue at Jenna Sue Designs. I’d LOVE it if you’d interview her. I also really like Michelle from Décor and the Dog, Katie Bower from Bower Power and Kelly from View Along the Way (although she’s been taking a blog break this year she’s always been one of my favorites so I hope she comes back soon!) Can’t wait to listen to your podcasts!

    1. I’m glad you’re excited! Yeah, I feel like there’s an ebb and flow with blogging. I think when a lot of bloggers start to feel burnt out or like they have a lack of content they’ll take on contributors to fill the void, but I’ve never been interested in going that route. Plus I think it’s a big change having a baby– my life is nothing like it used to be. So I’m excited to start the podcast and mix things up!

  4. This is so exciting! I’ve never been able to find a home decor podcast that I enjoy. I’m an Indy native and would love to hear from Sarah at Thrifty Decor Chick. Love to keep it in the city. Also the new HGTV pilot show Two Chicks and a Hammer just got picked up and they are from Indy too. Would be so nice to hear from them!

  5. My favorite blogger you should pod cast with is Jessica Garvin! From Little Baby Garvin. Christina from Carolina Charm would be a good one too! I love those mommy bloggers.

  6. I’ve been thinking about starting a podcast, but I’m going to continue working on YouTube first and get through our hectic Summer schedule first. You for sure have a radio voice though, I think you were destined for podcasting. Make sure your podcast is on Stitcher! We listen to Stitcher in the car all of the time.

    Anyway, go Chelsea!!!

  7. This is a great idea! Your voice is perfect for podcast (or radio!) and I’m excited to hear from everyone you’ll talk to! Some of my favorite bloggers are Abby at Just a Girl and Her Blog, Kelly from View Along the Way, Jen from I Heart Organizing, Virginia from Live Love DIY, and Ashley from Domestic Imperfection. Can’t wait to hear more 🙂

  8. You are so creative and have such interesting ideas! The podcast is a great addition to being a blogger!

  9. Jessica R says:

Can i just say..you have a great voice! I felt like I was listening to Serial lol

  10. What a fun idea! Didn’t know if I would enjoy listening, or if there would be “a point”, but it was actually easier to listen at work than it is to read! Look forward to following along! Though they’re not DIY bloggers, Kath from KathEats and Courtney from SweetToothSweetLife I think would have fun thoughts/stories to share since they’re moms and recently moved/are about to move into new homes.

  11. What a fun idea! I think the podcast will be great!! My favorite blogger is Alissa from The Adored Life & Lindsey from The Curly Diaries!

  12. How exciting! I understand that the following might not be your little niche of the blogging world, but I’m a teacher and I have some teacher-bloggers whom I LOVE. They not only post about goings on in the classroom, but about life, too. If you ever run low on material, think about contacting Reagan Tunstall (Tunstall’s Teaching Tidbits) and Amy Lemons (“Step Into Second Grade With Mrs. Lemons” or “When Life Gives You…The Lemons”). Can’t wait to see what you do next!

  13. I just found you a couple months ago and love looking at your archives. I agree that your new content hasn’t been quite as exciting lately, and I appreciate you taking steps to try something different! I also love your voice, sounds great on this podcast.

My favorite blogs are Kate from The Small Things Blog, Kacia from Coconut Robot, Jen from iHeart Organizing and Thirty Decor Chick.

I love finding new blogs and I’m looking forward to doing that through your podcast!

    1. I’m glad you found me! Yeah, all the big, fun projects have pretty much been done in this house. I’d love to be able to go back through and redo stuff but it’s not in the budget right now. But like with the podcast, I’m trying to come up with new things to share. I’ll definitely at those bloggers to the list!

  14. I can’t wait to listen when I am done work! This is such an exciting new venture!

  15. Chelsea, congrats on the podcast! I think it’s a great idea. Looking forward to listening to it. We’re actually planning on launching our own podcast in the fall as well. Will be interested in hearing about any lessons learned you have from your launch experience. I’ll be emailing you soon.

    R,
    John

  16. I love it! I’m sorta new to the whole podcast thing, so I had to laugh when you mentioned that you guys are hardcore budgeting to pay off school debt, because my main experience with podcasts has been listening to Dave Ramsey while we work on our school debts, too 🙂 Can’t wait to listen to more!

(And can I also mention that I love that you were open about feeling like you’re running out of things to blog about? I feel like bloggers often feel so pushed/pressured to create new posts that the quality sometimes suffers [like you said, you can’t just remodel stuff for the sake of having a post to write], but I love that you took that feeling and turned it into something new and exciting and original. I’m excited for you!)

    1. I’ve never listened to Dave Ramsey. We’re doing the Chelsea and Brad money makeover. Hah! Student loans are the worst, aren’t they? We would be so incredibly broke if we both had them.

YES! I feel so much pressure. Going down to two posts a week kind of took the edge off. But I feel like I’m in this weird place right now. My days are dedicated to caring and spending time with Owen, and I don’t ever want to look back and regret not spending time with him, especially because the infant and toddler part of life is so brief. And a lot of our weekends are spent with family so it’s hard to get projects done. And add that to the fact that in 4 years of blogging I’ve made over almost every room in our house. So a lot of the time I feel stuck. Now I get why bloggers take on contributors. I’ve never wanted to go that route though because I don’t think it fits with the feel of my blog. And now I’m seeing a lot of DIY/home bloggers incorporating fashion posts to fill the void. I could yammer on and on about all of this but I’ll stop now.

  17. I can’t wait to hear more! My favorite bloggers are Toni from A Bowl Full of Lemons, Becky from CleanMama, Jen from IHeart Organizing and you. So don’t forget to talk about yourself even if you’ve already written about it. Some people may have forgotten or haven’t read everything yet. Good luck in your new adventure!

    1. Thanks, Veronica! Yeah, I hope to make it more of a conversation between me and the other person so I share some of my experiences too. Maybe if people want to know more about me I can do a Q&A episode where readers ask me questions and I answer them. And I’ll add those bloggers to the list!

  18. LOVE this idea!! I think this will be an awesome off-shoot for you while you’re paying off debt and taking care of that adorable baby of yours! You have an awesome personality and it will come across even more so when hearing your voice. Looking forward to following the podcast each week!

    1. It’s the perfect color of pink!

  19. Kate Valiente says:

I’d love if you interviewed these bloggers:

    Andrea Dekker (andreadekker.com)
Kate Bryan (the small things blog)
Stephanie from Olive and Tate (currently in house Reno hell)
    Mandy Ehman (life your way)
    Mandy from Biblical Homemaking
Dana White from A Slob Comes Clean

  20. Girl, you’re a natural! Such an excellent idea! This will be so great for mommas too – I’m finding it easier to listen to something as opposed to reading these days (unless, of course, it’s Princess Penelope and the Runaway Kitten which I read approximately 53 times a day). I’m so looking forward to this! I vote for Jenna Sue Designs and Katie Bower too.

    1. Thanks so much! Yeah, I think podcasts are getting bigger for that reason. They’re easy to listen to around the house, in the car or at work. I laughed out loud about the Princess Penelope book thing. She loves that book!

  21. LOVE this idea!! I listen to Podcasts all the time so this is a great addition to an already great Blog!! I would love to hear from Annie @Annies Eats, Katie Bower from BowerPower blog, and also Jo from A Cup of Jo! Thanks..and looking forward to the Podcasts!!! 🙂

  22. How fun! And your voice was made for podcasting!

  24. Caroline K says:

Hi Chelsea! I think Lindsay from “Frills and Drills” would be great for you! Also like Kalyn from “Creative Savings Blog.”

  25. Alison S. from Iowa says:

That was fun Chelsea! I am not too familiar with podcasts and I liked it. Much more ‘real’ than just reading blog posts everyday. I have to say I would love to hear from Jen Jones at IHeart Organizing like most people. Plus, Cassie at Hi Sugarplum! Cassie’s words on the blog page are very conversational and funny and think she would be a hoot! Good luck and have with your sweet baby boy! Alison S., Bettendorf, IA

  26. That is NOT what I expected you to sound like! But I love your voice! So excited for this series.

  27. This is great! Can’t wait for your next podcast.

  28. LOVE THIS! specially the convenience factor `I can listen to this while at work and nobody has to know I’m not really working but listening to you … YAY!´ Is that the same theme song as in the Rachel Cruze videos? … 🙂
I would love to follow this series, I have never found my way to bloggin (some of us are just not as gifted, LOL)
but I love podcasts and Blogs. So I’m very excited for you and this new project! xoxo from South America 😉
