It’s been a while since I’ve shared what I’m lovin’. I guess I’ve finally accumulated enough things to share, so let’s get this party started.
1. Orange Is the New Black
I already shared my love for OITNB on Instagram and Facebook. It’s only fitting that I declare my love here as well. In case you have no idea what I’m talking about, OITNB is a new series on Netflix. It’s about Piper Chapman, a 30-something self-described WASP, who gets sentenced to 15 months in a federal women’s prison for transporting money 10 years ago for her former drug dealing girlfriend. The show is based off the memoir by Piper Kerman.
It was personally interesting for Brad and I to watch because Brad used to work as a correctional officer and case manager. He worked in the super max (solitary/SHU) at a men’s maximum security prison, women’s prison, and men’s work release center. (He always had the most interesting stories when I’d ask, “How was your day, honey?”) Brad says the show does a good job portraying women’s prison culture. But OITNB obviously dramatizes things because it’s a comedy-drama. So why do I love it? Great writing. Great characters. Great casting. (Taystee is my most favorite character, in case you’re wondering.)
2. RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Eye Cream
Hands down the best <$20 eye cream I’ve tried. I noticed a difference after only 2 weeks of using this stuff. Yes, I’m in my twenties and using anti-aging products. I’m all about prevention, people. I’d like to stay away from Botox in the future. Personally, I think the ability to make facial expressions is a good thing– adds character. And needles stabbing me in the face isn’t really my thing so I’ll take my $20 eye cream and sunscreen thankyouverymuch.
3. Benefit Cosmetic They’re Real! Mascara
While on the topic of beauty products… I’m kind of in love with this mascara. I have weak eyelashes. One of the first things I’ll do when I win the lottery is get eyelash extensions. But until then, I’ll keep on using this mascara because it definitely helps my eyelids look less bald.
4. Pic Tap Go
I’ve said it a million times, I love me some Instagram. One of my new favorite photo editing apps is Pic Tap Go. It has joined my other favorite photo editing apps (mentioned here). I like the filter choices and how you can adjust the strength of the filters.
2000s Hip Hop station on Pandora. My favorite station. Hands down.
“Royals” by Lorde. Homegirl is a 16 year old from New Zealand. She definitely doesn’t sound like a 16 year old. She even dissed T Swift saying, “I try to stay away from talking about boys all the time. You can go to Taylor Swift to hear that.” My kind of chick. The end.
“That Girl” by Justin Timberlake. Only 103 days until my BFF and I see him in concert. I’m already planning my outfit. Enough said.
I hope you enjoyed this installment of What I’m Lovin’.
