Fall Decorating 2019

Woo, fall decorating 2019! It’s still in the mid-80s here, but by golly, we’re going to will fall weather while we endure approximately two more weeks of perpetual perspiration.

If you’re stopping by from Clean & Scentsible on the fall home tour, welcome! I’m Chelsea and I’ve been sharing my home(s) and life with strangers on the Internet for *does the math* 9 years. You can tour our current home here and our previous home here. I cover a wide array of topics– home decor, baby and kid, organization, my favorite things, gardening, parties, recipes, and more.

I kept things rather simple this year because I’m not huge fall interior decorator– I mostly stick to exterior fall decorating. The window for decorations is so small that I usually skip it and head straight into Halloween. But not this year.

These pumpkins were a Target dollar spot purchase from a couple years ago. I tossed them into the brass terrarium that always lives on the mantel. And to make sure I met my pumpkin quota, I set out a little ceramic pumpkin. The vase and eucalyptus leaves also reside on the mantel nearly year-round. It’s a set-and-forget type of thing.

I did splurge a little and grabbed this water hyacinth, woven pumpkin. It came with two tassels but I thought those were unnecessary so I snipped them off and threw them away. Don’t be afraid to alter new items just because they’re new.

I highly recommend the faux eucalyptus. It hasn’t let me down yet.

Although it’s far too warm to cozy up with a blanket by the fire, I did casually drape this green and navy plaid throw over our blanket basket. The throw was a clearance purchase last year or the year before, but this one is kind of similar– emphasis on kind of.

See, it’s low-key fall decorating over here. Neutral, but enough pumpkins to make the statement, “It’s fall, y’all!”

Our entryway has a lot of blue in it with the rug and lamp. And the entryway table is a gray-blue, so I thought adding some gold and beige colors would be a sound choice.

The cast iron pumpkin candleholder fits perfectly on top of the marble tray that’s a constant fixture on top of the table. I’ll never light those candles, and I’m waiting for my sons to grab them and use them as swords, but at least I have this photo to remember them.

This water hyacinth pumpkin is the older, taller sister of the mantel pumpkin. I was going to give her a haircut because I don’t understand this fringe craze, but then it didn’t bother me so much. That, and I didn’t want to take the time to bust out my hair dryer and attempt to loosen the hot guy holding the fringe on to the pumpkin. Also, I wanted to pay homage to all the fringe I cut off of the tray and baskets I scored from the Target clearance section. If you’re a faithful Instagram Stories (@twotwentyone) viewer, you know what I’m talking about. Anyway, she may get a haircut next year.

The acorn candle was a gift from my BF last year.

In case you’re keeping score, that’s 12 pumpkins and 1 acorn in this year’s fall decorating. A heck of a lot more than zero from last year.
