Fabric Covered Koozies

This post is brought to you by Waverly Inspirations. As always, opinions are 100% my own.

Raise your hand if you enjoy a cold beverage on a hot summer day! I know I do. And I generally like to keep my drink of choice cool, so I decided to whip up some custom fabric covered koozies.

These are super easy-to-make and require no crazy skills. If you can cut fabric and wield a glue gun this DIY project is going to be a walk in the park.

You can use can holders you already have on hand, or you can buy new ones. I picked up these at Walmart for 97 cents each.

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own fabric covered koozies:

• Waverly Inspirations fabric … Walmart
• Waverly Inspirations ribbon … Walmart
• hot glue gun + glue … already had
• scissors or rotary cutter (I used both) … already had
• 3.5″ x 11″ template made out of paper … already had
• can holders … Walmart
• Fray Check … Walmart

After fashioning your 3.5″ x 11″ template from a piece of paper, lay it on the fabric and cut along the template.

Use the Fray Check, according to the package instructions, on one of the shorter edges– preferably your straightest cut.

Once the Fray Check is dry, grab your hot glue gun and put a line of hot glue on the non-Fray check end of the fabric. Wrap the fabric around the koozie. Be careful not to pull it too snug or too loose. If you wrap it too tight it’ll be harder to get your drink in and out. And if you wrap the fabric too loose it’ll sag.

Glue the edge with Fray Check on top of the starting end (there should be some overlap).

Before I attached my ribbon, I used this handy trick to keep it from fraying.

Glue the ribbon to the base of the koozie, wrap the ribbon around the koozie (not too tight, not too loose), use this trick to keep the end of the ribbon from fraying, add a bead of hot glue, glue the end of the ribbon on top of the starting end.

Tadah! You have a festive fabric covered koozie to keep your beverage cool at the beach or pool.

When cutting out your fabric, make sure you position the template over the part of the fabric you want included on your koozie.

I couldn’t resist this pink coral.

Wouldn’t these make cute house warming gifts?

Get excited for more posts like these because I’m partnering with Waverly Inspirations for the next 10 months or so. Every month I’ll be challenged to create something with the fabrics, ribbon, paint, and other miscellaneous products I receive. And I’ll also be given a theme to follow. This will either be exciting or terrifying for me.

Chelsea – these are really pretty and you could do a set in patriotic fabrics for the 4th as well as a set in fabrics that match your outdoor deck/patio. Love this idea and will be making some soon. Thanks for the great tutorial.
