American Dream Builders

If you know me well, you know I love pretty much all things Nate Berkus.  I wept when he stopped taping his TV show.  So you can understand my excitement when I saw that he’s the host of the new show American Dream Builders on NBC.

Hosted by famed interior designer and best-selling author, Nate Berkus, American Dream Builders follows the nation’s top 12 designers and home builders as they compete to be crowned the Ultimate Dream Builder and take home a $250,000 cash prize.  It’s basically most of my favorite things wrapped into one show.

During each weekly episode, two teams will take on a brand new project.  They’ll be asked to redesign and renovate the space from the inside out– in a matter of days.  From midcentury modern to Tudor to Spanish, the designers will be expected to execute vast home renovations that bring a fresh, modern sensibility while remaining true to the home’s natural charm and design characteristics.  A home design and house stalker’s dream TV show if you ask me.

In honor of the upcoming premiere of the show, I created a special Pinterest board that encompasses all things I love in relation to home decor, design, and DIY.  Seriously, I drool every time I look at that board.

From the producers of Survivor and The Bachelor, don’t miss American Dream Builders, coming this Sunday – only on NBC.

Check out the American Dream Builders site here.  There’s also a great video promo about the show here.

You guys, I think it’s finally happening– it’s starting to feel a little bit more like spring.  The high for today is 55 degrees.  Our local TV station meteorologist said Monday will feel “balmy” with a high of 60.  Balmy.  So in celebration of temps above 20, I’ve rounded up 10 of my favorite spring inspired crafts and treats to get everyone in the spirit for warmer weather.

Pre-programmed voice commands allow you to tell the thermostat to raise or lower temperature.  You can say things like ““make it warmer” or “make it three degrees cooler”– even from across the room.  We tried this out and it really does work!  Pretty cool, eh?

Control from Anywhere

Utilizing Honeywell’s highly-rated and free iOS and Android mobile app you can control the thermostat whether you’re across the room or around the world.

Only a few common household tools are needed to install the unit and Honeywell provides step-by-step installation instructions.

Anniversary Picnic

This post brought to you by World Market . All opinions are 100% mine.

A few weeks ago World Market asked me to try out their summer picnic products for their summer getaway challenge.  The timing was perfect  because this past weekend Brad and I headed out of town to celebrate our second wedding anniversary, which is tomorrow, but more on that later.  We figured a picnic would be perfect because where we stayed has beautiful grounds.  So we found an area under some trees near a creek to set up shop.

Everything, excluding the cutting board and grapes, was purchased at World Market– even the food and champagne.  I love the white and orange picnic blanket, which rolls up, and the insulated picnic basket.– perfect for picnics or taking chilled food to cookouts or tailgates.

I grabbed some non-perishable cheese and salami (perfect for a picnic), crackers, and artichoke spread.  I also picked up two plastic champagne flutes, also great for a picnic.  And an anniversary picnic isn’t complete with champagne to fill those flutes.  If you didn’t know, World Market has a great wine and beer selection.  I must have spent 15 minutes trying to decide what to get.

Because we all know bugs are an issue at picnics and cookouts, I bought a collapsible food tent, which easily fit in the picnic basket.  Serisously, whoever invented these is a genius.  I’m going to go back to WM and buy some more.

All in all it was a great picnic, minus the crazy humidity and a few bugs.

Want the chance to getaway and have a picnic with your loved ones?  Well, you’re in luck because Cost Plus World Market and Southwest airlines are offering a chance to win one of four getaways with World Market’s Great Summer Getaway Sweepstakes.  They’re giving away 4 weekly prize packages, which include: airfare for four people, hotel, and a $500 World Market gift card.  You can increase your chances of winning by liking World Market on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr.

Two Twenty One Reader Survey

I’ve been wanting to do a reader survey for a long time.  I’m always curious about who reads all this stuff I yammer on about and what they think about all my yammering.  So I created a reader survey for you guys to kindly complete.  Well, it’s actually two surveys because Survey Monkey only allowed me to have ten questions per survey, or I’d have to pay for a pro membership (no thanks, SM).  Survey One mostly pertains to Two Twenty One and blog reading habits, while Survey Two mostly pertains to reader demographics.

The surveys shouldn’t take you too long to complete.  And don’t worry, these are completely anonymous– your names and IP addresses won’t be recorded.

To take the surveys, I recommend right clicking each image below and selecting “open link in new tab” so you won’t have to worry about coming back here to take the second survey after completing the first.  Sorry I’m too cheap to pay $25 for a one-time survey.  I hope you understand.

I’ll share the results of the survey next week.

Thanks so much for taking the time to tell me about you!
