You wanna know why? Because the “street view” looks like this.
Doesn’t it scream “hoarders live here!”? Seriously, all that’s missing is a car on blocks in the driveway and a bunch of rusty tricycles in the yard. Look at those weeds growing in front of the garage door!
I get nervous that someone (friends, family, an Etsy buyer!) will type in our address to see what our house looks like. (Yes, these are the crazy things I think about.) And to their horror they see the above image and think to themselves, “Oh. My. Goodness. I need to call ‘Hoarding: Buried Alive’ so I can get Chelsea and Brad some help” or “Uhhh, I bought a wreath from this place?” or “Uhhh, I bought an ugly Christmas sweater from this place? Hmmm, kinda makes sense.”
So I’m going to petition Google to drive their little Google Maps car down our street this summer. That way, our house will look like this instead of that.
What does your house look like on Google Map’s street view?
What would you think of me if you saw that first photo? Be honest. I can take it.

In closing, here is a photo I snapped of Jack with my phone on our way home from his “Morning of Beauty” on Wednesday. He’s saying, “You’re such a big meanie, mom. You know I hate smelling good and having trimmed nails.”

Hahaha that is brilliant! It looks blooming amazing now though
My street view shows the bathroom in the front garden – it was the day after it was ripped out. Talk about bad timing. Also, the land opposite our house (which is a garden centre) seemed to have lots of rusted old cars and rubble on view the same day. The local estate agent links all listings to Google Street View so if I wanted to sell, I’d have to pray any potential buyers were afraid of technology :/
So I moved into this house over a year ago…. and I COMPLETELY forgot how much work the landscapers did before we moved in! M house is pretty much buried under bushes in my street view…. it looks 200% different now!
Wow, that photo is old, look how small the tree is in the before compared to the after. I suppose that’s good for you because they should be coming around again soon for a new photo. My photo looks really bad too. It’s the old lady green crappy aluminum siding when we moved in before our big addition and remodel. You house looks very nice now, you did a terrific job!!
That is funny! It looks awesome now!
LOL! Honestly it is not that bad and you can tell it is an old photo! Your house is gorgeous! So pretty! I think google should update to show off your house’s beauty!
hahahaha i would def think you were a hoarder!
Ahaha that’s hilarious! It made me curious so I checked our address and turns out we don’t even have street view…whew! I’m in the clear
Hahahaha, we rent a condo so you can’t see our pad on google maps, BUT I googled my parents place a while ago and the image was my dad mowing the lawn, SHIRTLESS. I was dying. It looks so redneck! My mom was horrified.
Honestly, I would assume that there are at least two dozen cats living inside. Also it looks like you would be able to smell it from the curb, a pungent mixture of taco bell, cigarettes, and cat pee. I would also bet that you own a ferret, who is both your therapist and your landscaper.
So glad that none of these things are true!
Oh my goodness, your house is GORGEOUS!!!! Even in the first photo the house looks great, who cares about the landscaping. Google doesn’t have street view of either our house, or my mom’s house. In fact, I think even the aerial view still shows our subdivision as being in the beginning construction phase, and it’s been complete for five years, now. So, I guess if anyone google earth’ed us – they’d think I was homeless. LOL
At least it makes for a VERY impressive before and after photo!
Wow – you’ve done such a good job with the house! Looks amazing. And Jack – well, he’s just precious!
That is so funny. This post made me check mine. Thankfully it looks sooo much better now. Mine used to have a random truck and a guy pushing a shopping cart.
Ahahahaha, awesome! I will admit . . . I have google mapped customers’ addresses before. That makes me sound like such a creep. But sometimes I’m just curious where my items are going!
Oh gosh this cracked me up! The difference between the Google image and your picture is like night and day.
I just google mapped my own house, thankfully it doesn’t look too bad! But at least you have your blog for people to look at a real representation!
Lol, too funny! Wow your “real” house looks sooo much better!
Your house doesn’t look that bad! I’m always curious at the google car who drives nd coordinates that. Do they eliminate all the people from the photos!? Like what if you caught me at the time I was weeding my garden and my crack killed in the pic. Or if thats te day I forget to close the blinds and walk around in my underwear bc I insist no one “can really see in…”. Lol! Things modern technology has us concerned about!
First of all, your dog is so cute! Secondly, the difference between the first and second photos is like night and day – it’s quite remarkable. I feel like a lot of people’s street views are similar to yours (when the heck do they even take those pictures anyways… and with what camera?!) so I wouldn’t worry too much.

Your house looks great now! I can see why you’d want to avoid the google picture giving a first impression! My house doesn’t have a streetview. Our neighbourhood is really outdated on google maps
About 3 years outdated! I did find the house I grew up in though.
My house looks like it’s straight out of the 1970′s. I’m like you, I need Google Maps to take a drive down our street too!
I love your house, by the way. Very pretty.

that’s too funny! what a huge transformation!!! now I am off to google street view our house, haha!
Wow! It’s like night and day! That is crazy!
Our old house, which we bought and renovated in 2007, still has the old siding/roof/garage, which were all replaced. We built an entire new garage. It’s been a long time and I’m thinking it will never be replaced.
